Visit by the T Model Ford car club

This morning we had a visit to Policeman’s Way by the T Model Ford car club. The group parked their cars up in the shade down the paddock while they toured the shed.

They had some absolutely classic machines. It was something else seeing them ‘fly’ past the mosaics shed and clothesline.

It’s great to be hosting visitors again after closing for the exhibition at Bunbury Museum. I’m looking forward to having more groups through over summer.

Visit by the Daimler and Lanchester Owners Club

On the 11th August we were lucky enough to host members of the Daimler and Lanchester Owners Club at Policeman’s Way. We had some very fancy cars parked up in the paddock, including a Tesla, Rolls Royce, and Daimlers.

Needless to say, the inner mechanic in me was feeling very envious. Perhaps it’s time to extend the collection to include full-size automobiles? Better check with Peta…

Visit by the Emergency Services Motorcycle Association

On Sunday 13th March we had a visit from members of theĀ  Emergency Services Motorcycle Association (ESMA). Five of the group were former colleagues of mine from Western Australia Police and well known to me during our careers. Brian Keed was one of my Sergeants when I was Officer In Charge of West Metro Traffic at Mirrabooka. Another of the group, Ivan Bennison, was a teenager living in Bassendean when I was stationed there and I knew his family, because in those days the local police were part of their community.

It was nice to reconnect with some old colleagues and also show them around the collection. Didn’t get to cruise around on their bikes though. Not this time.

Visit by the South West Veteran’s Car Club

This morning we had a visit from members of the South West Veteran’s Car Club to Policeman’s Way. 9 cars with 14 people came and viewed the collection. They had been to Boyanup for morning tea before parking 8 of the cars in a line down in the paddock. One EH Holden was parked outside the shed. The visitors spent about an hour looking through the collection and I had a couple of offers of items to add to my collection. One was a Police leather jacket and the other an American Police patch. They are going to be dropped in another day. Some of the visitors said they would bring more people along and will be arranging dates when they can.

While they were here the rain started and luckily all cars were hard tops, although a couple had left windows open. One of the cars was most appropriate, a Zephyr 6 with the registration plate Z CARS. Z Cars was an English Police show on television several years ago and the vehicles used by the cast were Zephyrs and Riley Pathfinders. The club members left here to head to the Kirup Tavern for lunch. It is most fortunate that we have 4 hectares of land where visitors in these groups are bale to drive and safely park their cars.

I’m enjoying having these large groups come through and I’m looking forward to the next group to visit Policeman’s Way.
